Elegance, intrigue, and 18th-century fashion ✨

Now on view in The 14th Colony special exhibit are these stunning French-inspired gowns from the 2008 Broadway production of Les Liaisons Dangereuses. A big thank you to our wonderful friends at The Wick Theatre and Costume Museum & Costume World Inc. for sharing these one of a kind pieces.

Fashion from 1760–1780 heavily influenced elite women’s clothing throughout the American Colonies, with styles inspired by European trends and often crafted from luxurious silk fabrics and trims. These exquisite garments were designed by Katrina Lindsay and worn by Mamie Gummer opposite Laura Linney during the production’s nearly 90-performance Broadway run.

🗓 The 14th Colony is on view now through August 27.

For the past two years, Denise Alman has led the Boca Raton Historical Society & The Schmidt Boca Raton History Museum with extraordinary dedication, generosity, and heart as President of our Board of Trustees.

Through a period of transition and growth for our organization, Denise led with grace, thoughtfulness, and unwavering commitment — always championing our mission, supporting our staff and volunteers, and finding ways to bring people together. Her leadership has left a lasting impact on our organization and community.

At last week’s Annual Members Meeting & Reception, we were proud to honor Denise as the 2026 recipient of the Myrtle Butts Fleming Award — the Boca Raton Historical Society’s highest honor.

Thank you, Denise, for your remarkable service, leadership, and friendship. We are deeply grateful for all you have done — and continue to do — for the Boca Raton Historical Society.
