Gretty Beth Arts Gretty Beth Arts is my artwork consisting of handmade cards, woodblock prints, and paintings Hello! I’m Gretchen Weitemier. Welcome to a peek of my artwork!

I’m primarily a painter and printmaker. I use large basswood blocks that I carve, use pyrography on (wood burning), paint with water based pigments, collage, and sometimes I finish with encaustic (painting with pigmented beeswax.) Many of the cards on this site are woodblock prints or watercolors. I express my spirituality through my work and I love to provide opportunities for others to experienc

e their own creative work. See my professional website at grettybetharts.com

Palm Sunday Arrival is a painting and woodblock print depicting Jesus’ joyful entry into Jerusalem on a lowly donkey. The figure of Jesus is intentionally ambiguous, inviting viewers to imagine themselves as brave agents of love amid powerful opposition. The ground and sky carry an uneasy, foreboding tone, hinting at the betrayal and crucifixion to come.
