What a fun night at Museum After Dark: Taps & Traps this past Friday!

A huge thank you to everyone who came out and proved that they have what it takes to live off the land! We’re already looking forward to the next two events in the series: RevolutionALE on July 17 and Whiskey & Wagons on October 2.

Big thanks to Los Syringas for bringing the groovy tunes, Anesso and Black Moon for the delicious bites, and Lost Grove Brewing for keeping the drinks flowing!

History’s never been this fun (or this delicious). 🍕✨

Join us on June 27 at 1PM for an afternoon of free pizza, good vibes, and a journey through Boise’s past and present as part of Civic Season, a national movement led by Made By Us happening between Juneteenth and July 4th.

In partnership with the Wassmuth Center for Human Rights, Erma Hayman House, James Castle House, and Boise Public Library, this experience goes way beyond a typical history lesson.

Here’s how it works:
Pick up your map at the Idaho State Museum during one of our timed entry slots, complete hands-on activities inspired by history, community, and civic engagement at three downtown Boise sites, and earn your pizza reward at Payette Brewing.

🎟️ Tickets are just $7. Learn more and register at history.idaho.gov/events!

Graduation season is here and summer vacation is just around the corner for many of Idaho’s residents!

This sweet pink silk crepe de chine was worn by Georgia Purdue Olsen for her graduation from Blackfoot High School in 1927.

Georgia had a passion for learning and teaching. She became a teacher in 1930, beginning her career in Alder Creek.

Later in life, inspired by her husband Jesse’s love of history, Georgia authored Mackay’s Yesterday, an informative guidebook about the history and geography of Mackay, Idaho.

The Idaho State Museum congratulates 2026 graduates! Never stop being curious.
