Bonduel Community Archives

Bonduel Community Archives Restore and preserve the communities local history. The BCA is interested in obtaining these bits of local history.

The Bonduel Community Archives was founded in 1991 and has been gathering local business and family history since our beginnings. Often when Grandma and Grandpa pass away, the children are left with a life-time of photographs and documents they do not know what to do with. We could copy them if you wish to keep them, or you can donate them for perpetual care. Photographs and documents are all arch

ived in acid-free sleeves safe from light and moisture and safe for succeeding generations who may be interested in knowing what their ancestors looked like and how they lived their lives. Some of our resources include church records, Shawano County plat maps, 1909-1971 Bonduel Times newspapers, family histories, school censuses, an extensive collection of photographs, obituaries, cemetery records, naturalization records and books written by local authors. The BCA features a changing photo display of different businesses, churches, schools and other themes. These photographs and stories represent the archive's sizable collection. The BCA newsletter, "The Historian," is issued four times a year. Stories and photographs from the archive collections are featured in these newsletters. It is the only local historical newsletter published in this area.

A vintage Valentines day postcard, showing a cherub and a big red heart.

Red has long been considered the color of passion and sexuality. The colour also symbolizes confidence, spontaneity, and determination, all important factors in a romantic pursuit.

This has all been proven by a study by the University of Rochester. Psychologists at the University discovered that men viewed women wearing red or standing in front of a red background as significantly more attractive and sexually desirable than women wearing or standing in front of different colours. Women felt the same way about men wearing red.

I think these old valentines are so cool. February is the month of love. We wish you all a month of love from the Bonduel Community Archives. We may have a few old valentines on file if you are interested. Stop in and visit with us, open Wednesday 9-4.
