Introducing our new acquisitions from the 2026 Spring Art and Design Expo!!

Each year the PSU Art Committee meets to vote on what student art pieces will be accessioned into the Appalachian Artists Collection, joining the ranks of previous students and faculty of App State. Amassing over 300 art objects, this collection is at the heart of the four permanent collections housed by the PSU.
To celebrate, we thought we’d do something a little different. Each piece is associated with three tarot cards that speak to the artistic inspiration and message of the piece. With room for interpretation, we invite you to voice your own thoughts and feelings on these pieces gleaned from the associated spread.

How is meaning projected through the form, materials, and medium of each piece?
How does the tarot spread influence your interpretation?
Where do you see the tarot spread in the art object, title, or materials?

Feel free to answer these questions in the comments, or come see the pieces for yourself in Wiseman’s Lounge on the New Acquisitions wall!
