Recent works by Irene Plummer are the subject of a solo exhibition in BRAF’s Gallery One space. Talking about her paintings populated with anemones, orchids, asters, and dahlias Plummer says “I feel a very mystical connection with flowers, as if they are a little glimpse of heaven.” “But,” she continues, “more than any other influence, color is always what I’m thinking about when I paint. If nature is my muse, then color is my obsession.”

It was another well attended First Friday at BRAF yesterday!
Long dramatic shadows and vibrant saturated hues are hallmarks of the late summer light in Maine’s Mid-coast and the inspiration for many of the more than 200 works currently on display at the new Fall Members Show at the Boothbay Region Art Foundation (BRAF).
