Aviation Heritage Park & Museum Stop by for an educational, inspiring, and interactive journey through aviation history. Hours: Open daily from dawn to dusk.

Exhibits include 8 military aircraft and a Piper Cub in honor of Kentucky pilots. The Airpark is open seven days a week, and the museum is open Mon-Sat, 10:00-5:00. A memorial to all distinguished aviators who have called South Central Kentucky home, Aviation Heritage Park currently features seven restored military aircraft and a Piper Cub with very compelling ties to local aviators as well as their own interesting stories.

🇺🇸 **THIS VETERANS DAY, GIVE THEIR NAME A LASTING PLACE OF HONOR.**

Is there a veteran in your life you'd like to recognize? Honor their service with a commemorative brick or engraved plaque at Aviation Heritage Park & Museum.

Colonel Arnie Franklin served 30 years in the United States Air Force. Today, his name is preserved at AHP&M on both a commemorative brick and an engraved plaque. Two lasting tributes to a lifetime of service.

**And here's something you may not know: Your veteran does NOT have to be an aviator to be honored at AHP&M!**

Whether you're recognizing a living veteran or remembering someone who has passed away, a personalized brick or plaque is a meaningful way to say thank you.

Aviation Heritage Park & Museum is already planning our 2027 STEM Camp season, and we're excited about what's ahead!

**THE MAN BEHIND THE FOUR STARS**

What was Gen. Russell E. Dougherty really like?

His son Mark remembers him as the happiest man he'd ever known. His daughter Dede describes him as the ultimate Kentucky gentleman.

He commanded Strategic Air Command during the Cold War, but he also made time for the people working the night shift, worried about the families living on Air Force bases, and greeted life's uncertainties as another great adventure.

In the final installment of our *Stories Behind the Aircraft* trilogy, we step away from the military record to discover the husband, father, friend and leader behind the four stars.

With personal memories shared by his family, **“The Man Behind the Four Stars”** is a different kind of aviation story. And perhaps the most revealing one of all.

Every name has a story.

Capt. Derek Argel served as a U.S. Air Force Combat Controller. He was killed in action in Iraq on May 30, 2005, during Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Today, his name is permanently remembered on the Veterans’ Wall of Honor at Aviation Heritage Park & Museum.

A memorial plaque is a lasting way to honor a veteran who matters to you, whether in memory of someone who is gone or in tribute to someone you’re fortunate to still have with you. Veterans from every branch and every era of service can be honored.

More than 500 visitors joined us for a rainy Saturday filled with flight simulators, drones, hands-on STEM activities, and plenty of happy faces.

We're delighted to have **Tim Daniel and Christy Thomas** joining the Aviation Heritage Park & Museum team.

Tim brings decades of experience in manufacturing and operations, while Christy brings extensive financial and nonprofit leadership experience, including nearly 25 years at the National Corvette Museum.

Both share our commitment to preserving the stories of southcentral Kentucky's aviation heroes.

More than 500 visitors joined us, and we couldn't have done it without the people who gave their time and talents to make it happen.
