Tomorrow and Friday we are hosting events on the Museum grounds.

As with all of our events, for reasons of safety, we will be suspending our dog policy during these events - ONLY ADA Service dogs, on leash, are allowed on Museum property from sunrise to 2 p.m. on both days. After 2 p.m. each day, feel free to visit our grounds with your pup(s)! We appreciate your understanding!

NOTICE! Today and tomorrow (Thursday, May 28 and Friday, May 29, 2026), there will be an event on Museum grounds from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

While the Museum grounds will remain open to the public, we ask that all visitors respect that for reasons of safety, we will be suspending our dog policy for the day.

This means that ONLY ADA Service dogs, on leash, are allowed on Museum property for both days from sunrise until 3 p.m. Our regular dog policy will be back in effect on Saturday May 30, 2026. We appreciate your understanding!

Alewife Day festivities start at 10 a.m. today and run to 3 p.m. Come join us for a fun filled day and there will be food trucks on site as well.

Alewife Day is tomorrow (Saturday, May 23rd) at the Museum!! There's so much to see: Alewives "climbing" the fish ladder, blacksmithing, sawmill demonstrations, Lombards, and more! PLUS....FOOD!!! Not just one, but TWO food trucks will be on the grounds! Salt & Cedar Kitchen and Nate & Ollie's Rolled Ice Cream are going to be on hand to keep you fueled for all the fun!

Alewife Day runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

As with all of our events, per our dog policy, only ADA Service dogs will be allowed on property for the day of the event. Non-event day dog policy rules will resume on Sunday, May 24, 2026.

NOTICE!! 2026 Children's Days registration will close at 5 p.m. E.S.T. today, Friday May 22, 2026. Registrations will be accepted until this time, and payments not yet sent to the Museum may be made on the day of the event.

We are happy to report that ALL schools that have registered at this point are confirmed! An event details document will be posted this weekend on Facebook and emailed to the contact person(s) listed on each school registration.

Spring is calling, and the alewives are on the move! 🌿🐟

Join us this Saturday from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM for our first spring event of the season, Alewife Day at the Maine Forest and Logging Museum. The forecast is looking beautiful with sunshine and temperatures near 67°, making it the perfect day to explore the museum grounds and celebrate one of Maine’s great spring migrations.

Enjoy a full day of:
-Watching the alewives migrate toward Chemo Pond
-Exploring scenic hiking trails and museum grounds
-Touring historic buildings and exhibits
-Seeing the modern-day mill and water-powered sawmill
-Blacksmith demonstrations
-Viewing the famous Lombards
-Food trucks and more

Tomorrow (Wednesday, May 20, 2026), we are proud to once again host the Central/Downeast regional Maine Envirothon competition.

Envirothon is North America's largest high school environmental science competition, where students gain hands-on natural resource knowledge through interaction with soil scientists, foresters, and biologists.

While the Museum grounds will remain open to the public, we ask that all visitors respect these dedicated students and the program coordinators and observe the competition from a safe distance.

As with all of our events, for reasons of safety, we will be suspending our dog policy for the day - ONLY ADA Service dogs, on leash, are allowed on Museum property for Wednesday May 20, 2026. Our regular dog policy will be back in effect on Thursday May 21, 2026. We appreciate your understanding!

Volunteers are the backbone to any great organization, and I feel we have some of the best here! We recently held our spring volunteer day, and it was amazing to see people show up to help get things ready for our spring/summer events. Thank you to all who helped and a HUGE thank you to Casella Waste Systems, Inc. for providing the roll off dumpster.

Casella Waste Systems, Inc. dropped off the unit in the pictures below which allowed for us to clean up three different buildings which would not have been possible had they not been there for us. If you are ever in need of a small or large dumpster, give them a call! 207-881-6434
