2 PLANTERS LEFT! Thank you Trish Turner, Lisha Duke, Mary Arterburn, and Brenda-Jean Haynes for your commitment to a planter this season!

The Great Planter Adoption is LIVE! 🌸
It’s about that time again! We have 10 planters ready for adoption and looking for a green thumb.

Because these planters are in high demand—and we want to avoid any "sad" empty pots this season—we ask that you only sign up if you are fully committed to following through. We want to ensure every spot gets the love it deserves!

The Details:
-Please bring your own plants (and soil, if you feel it needs it).
-You will receive a gold plaque with the wording of your choice.
-Planting season starts in early May.

To Reserve Yours:
Contact Lisha at [email protected]. Reservations are on a first-come, first-served basis!

Thank you for helping us keep our community vibrant!

A night at the museum!

The museum partnered with Meade County Tourism to host an exclusive, after-hours tour for our elected officials and their families, offering a private look at the community's rich heritage. Guests enjoyed a wonderful evening of local history complemented by a full spread of refreshments, featuring traditional barbecue, burgoo, sides, and dessert.

Shirley, Gerry, and Steve gave tours. It was a fantastic opportunity for our leaders to connect with the museum’s mission and explore the unique stories that define Meade County.

Everyone is invited to attend the America 250 Liberty Tree Dedication on Saturday, May 16, 2026, at 2:00 pm EDST at Meade County Courthouse, Brandenburg, Kentucky.

This special ceremony will celebrate the planting of a Tulip Poplar, the official state tree of Kentucky and a native species, as part of the nationwide commemoration of America’s 250th anniversary. The dedication ceremony is a collaborative effort and will include participation from the Meade County Fiscal Court, the Meade County America 250 Committee, the Ambrose Meador Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR), and the Meade County History Museum.

America 250 Kentucky Liberty Tree Project, is a partnership between the Kentucky Daughters of the American Revolution and the Kentucky Historical Society. The project’s goal is to plant a Tulip Poplar—the official state tree of Kentucky—in all 120 counties across the Commonwealth. Trees donated by the Kentucky Division of Forestry will be planted in prominent locations with assistance from local governments.

The project honors the spirit of the American Revolution while promoting the preservation of Kentucky’s native trees. The community is warmly invited to attend the May 16 dedication at Meade County Courthouse and join in celebrating America’s 250th anniversary.

The LST building, located at Fort Knox, Kentucky, was a World War II-era structure designed as an exact mock-up of the Landing Ship Tank (LST) interior. Built in 1942, it served as a specialized training facility to teach tank crews to maneuver vehicles onto LSTs and to test crucial ventilation systems. Remember when the LST came to Meade County?
