☀️ The Longest Day, The Perfect Stretch.

Happy Summer Solstice! To celebrate the first official day of summer, we’re featuring Karen Lemen’s (karenlemensfineart) beautiful painting, Morning Stretch. 🛶🏔️

Lemen flawlessly captures the exquisite silence of a summer dawn—that serene moment when the air is still cool, the water is glassy, and the whole, long day stretches out before you. We’ve expanded this stunning scene to fully immerse you in the vastness of the mountain lake, letting that golden, early light wash over you.

Whether you're starting your summer on the water, on the trail, or just dreaming of your next getaway, we wish you a bright and beautiful solstice. 💛

✨ Behind the Art: Paula Schuette’s "Night Bear I" & "Night Bear II" ✨

Ever wonder what secrets are hidden within a print? Paula Schuette recently shared the beautiful inspiration behind her striking new pieces, and it’s the perfect reminder to pause and look up. 🌌

Originally started as a single, massive copper plate, Paula divided the work into two companion pieces. While drawing the white bears on dark paper, she was reminded of the vastness of a clear Colorado night sky—the kind of sky you look up at to clear your head, calm your mind, and put life’s little worries into perspective.

Look closely at the deep, velvety backgrounds, and you'll find a constellation of hidden, personal symbols hand-drawn into the layers:
🎲 A hand throwing dice – because life’s a crapshoot.
🔨 A hammer and nails – for getting things done.
🛷 A sled – for nostalgia and the past.
☕ A teacup – representing long conversations with friends.

The majestic white bears act as apparitions in the night sky, each featuring their respective constellations—Ursa Minor on Night Bear I and Ursa Major on Night Bear II—rendered in a pale yellow oil pastel. Designed to face toward one another, these two stunning prints make the perfect, harmonious diptych. 🐻✨

🚣‍♂️ Hold on Tight: "Shooting the Rapids"

Who says you need a record snowpack to find an adrenaline rush? Carole Belliveau perfectly captures the heart-pounding energy of the river in her oil painting, "Shooting the Rapids." 🌊🎨

If you’ve been watching the peaks lately, you know the mountains are looking a bit leaner than usual. With this past winter delivering historically low snowfall across Colorado, our rafting season is shaping up to be a "sprint" rather than a marathon.

But here’s the best part: even when the river settles into a summer lull, you can always enjoy a float—whether it's a mellow afternoon on the Upper Colorado or right here in the gallery.

📍 Catch the Runoff: The real-life rapids might be moving fast this year, but this view is here to stay. Swing by Gallery to experience "Shooting the Rapids" in person before it drifts away to a new home!

✨ Summer Days in Full Bloom ✨
There’s a specific kind of energy that only a Colorado summer can provide—the air is crisp, the wildflowers are defiant, and the peaks seem to glow with a life of their own. Joseph McKay captures that vibration perfectly in his latest oil painting, "Summer Days." 🏔️🌸

Looking at this piece, you can almost feel the texture of the mountainside. Joe’s signature style—bold, thick palette knife strokes and an incredible play of light—makes the landscape feel less like a flat image and more like a living memory. It’s rugged, vibrant, and unapologetically beautiful.

📍 Drop by to see it: It’s the perfect way to bring a little bit of the high country inside!

🌿 Adventure Awaits 🌿

Ever wish you could just step inside a painting and disappear for a while? Nancy Bauer has made it pretty tempting with "Wild Roses Near Bear Creek Falls." 🌸✨

This isn't just a landscape; it’s a full sensory experience. You can practically hear the water rushing over the rocks and feel that perfect "golden hour" sun filtering through the pines. Nancy has captured that magical moment on the trail where the wild roses start to peek out, adding a soft pop of pink to the deep, lush greens of the forest.

It’s like a secret window to the Colorado wilderness, right here on our gallery walls. 🌲💦

✨ Otterly Adorable: "Chasing a Rainbow" ✨

Looking for a little splash of joy? Meet our resident river puppies at the gallery: "Chasing a Rainbow" by the incredibly talented Jim Gilmore. 🦦🦦

This bronze beauty perfectly captures two otters doing what they do best—being absolute agents of chaos and grace. Gilmore has managed to make solid bronze look as fluid and sleek as an otter gliding through a mountain stream. It’s playful, it’s dynamic, and it’s guaranteed to make you smile.

But honestly? The best part is right up front. Look at that face! We know you want to, and we’re giving you full permission:

Go ahead and boop that nose! 👉👃 We promise it’s just as satisfying as it looks.
