Join us for some historical fun for the whole family in Anderson this Saturday, April 12!

The schedule for the day includes:
11am to 3pm at the Fanthorp Inn you can hop aboard a stagecoach for a ride around Anderson. We'll also offer special tours from 10am to 4pm about the 2nd US Dragoons visit to the inn in 1845

11am to 3pm the SCV is hosting an event downtown with a reenactor camp and artifact displays

10am to 12pm the Grimes County Historical Commission will offer tours of our historic courthouse

Did you know you can schedule a private tour of the Brenham Fire Museum any day of the week? While the museum is typically open Saturdays from 11am – 2pm, we offer private tours for groups looking to experience the history of firefighting in Brenham at their convenience!

Book in Advance! With the busy spring season upon us, now is the perfect time to secure your tour. Private tours must be booked at least two weeks in advance.

Pricing: Private tours start at $25 for up to five people, with an additional $5 per person after that.

Currently on display at the Brenham Heritage Museum: "Scouting Washington County" Exhibit! 🏕️🌟

This special exhibit takes an in-depth look at the rich history of the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts in Washington County. Featuring scouting memorabilia from local troops in Brenham and Burton, visitors can explore a collection of photographs, artifacts, and souvenirs, including items from national jamboree trips led by the late Dr. Wilfred Dietrich, a cherished scoutmaster and one of the museum's founders. 📸🎖️

The exhibit will be on display until June 21, 2025. Don’t miss it! Stop by the Brenham Heritage Museum, located at 105 S Market Street in Downtown Brenham, Wednesday through Saturday from 10 am to 4 pm. 🏛️🕙

Admission is $5 for adults, and children 12 and under get in for free! 🎟️

Join us daily at Independence Hall this week as we work to replicate the “Ark of the Covenant of the Texas Declaration,” A document box made from the wood of the original Independence Hall and gifted to Dr. R. R. Peebles. See demonstrations of dove-tailing, veneering, and other carpentry techniques. Join us in conversations about the life of the original building and the conservation of Texas artifacts. Taking place from 10am-4pm daily during spring break (3/11 - 3/16).

Here's another FREE activity to enjoy in Brenham & Washington County during Spring Break!

Want to learn about Brenham's fascinating early history? Stop by during Spring Break this week (3/10 - 3/14) anytime from 10am - 4pm to check out the "Step Into The Past" historical films! Admission is free and open to all ages!

There are seven short films to enjoy including fun tales about Reese Lockett - Brenham's cowboy mayor, the Brenham Fire Museum, Glissmann's Pharmacy, Brenham Maifest, and more!

The runtime for all films is about 1 hour and 10 minutes and they play on a continuous loop. See you there!
