Been over 7 years since I built my dually. 2017 Ram 2500 (short bed dually conversion). One of my favorite customizations on my vehicles is a shaved tailgate w/ custom opening mechanisms to eliminate the ugly handle flip kits.
In this case. I shaved the recessed Ram emblem and the tailgate handle. Modified the opening mechanism to “rotate” and welded on a socket like adaptor so you open the tailgate with an Allen wrench. The opener is nearly hidden and works like a charm.

Quick little radiator cover for Poppy's Patina shop truck before Starbirds Custom Car Show next weekend.

Request was just something quick to cover the radiator, and maybe pull in the fins of the supercharger into the beadrolling design.

18 ga. steel.
(5) pieces all welded together.
Ready for paint!

Mobile jobs are always challenging, but this one turned out nice and clean!

Final result! Custom, one of a kind, hand crafted, steel inner fenders for a 1969 Chevy Chevelle!
Hand cut, beadrolled, cut/trimmed, welded, hand filed, metal finished and ready for paint & install.
Over 20 hours in these combined. These were made to match the cars interior that will be installed in the car soon.

First attempt didn’t quite work out… But that’s part of custom fabrication. Especially when building parts for a car that’s not in my shop. The brake booster is too close to the notched area still.. Which is ok, I’ve decided to add the honeycomb pattern into the notched area anyways!

Build.
Test fit.
Modify.
Repeat.

Poor man’s corners!
No fancy plasma table, no pneumatic body saws, hole saws, nothing but a grinder and a cut off wheel?!?
No problem. Quick demo on how I cut some of my radiused corners quickly on this shaved firewall panel before flap disk and hand file finish. Work with what you got! 💪🏽
