A leisurely Brooklyn Friday featuring the FUTURO chaise lounge designed by Massimo Iosa Ghini (b. 1959) whose work for MEMPHIS Milano is typified by bold, industrial lines, brisk movement, and a flair for futurism.

Beside it sits the dreamy “Traccia” table from Dina Gavina. A reproduction of Meret Oppenheimer’s 1939 surrealist original work, the elliptical top with its shaped edge has the footprints of a fantasy bird on it, which also inspired the cast bronze feet. The upper part of the tabletop is in fine gold leaf, the underside is painted with gold colored paint.

Finally, adorned with the iconic MEMPHIS Milano Squash Ashtray / Candy Dish from Maria Sanchez (1985)

Palace Chair, George Snowden

Designed for the 3rd Memphis exhibition by George Sowden (UK), it is a melding of his memories of British Arts & Guilds (Macintosh, etc.) and a rectilinear homage to Gerrit Rietveld & De Stijl.

Every element of the palace chair intensifies its rectilinear layout, with intense color and simple forms. However, its comfort is pleasantly surprising and it functions equally well as a dining or side chair.

The palace chair is often depicted in the designer George Sowden's architectonic drawings of interiors as his own iconic object!

A classic Sowden design.

“First” by Michele de Lucchi (1983) was one of the few Memphis designs intended for the broad public and quickly became a bestseller.

The back and armrest construction is a true eyecatcher. It consists of a steel tube, bent to form a circle, which supports a flexible backrest comprising a round wooden disk on rubber bearings and two wooden spheres as armrests.

The tube is welded to the front legs of the simple stool, which forms the seat frame, almost completely engulfing the sitter. Although the construction is extremely stabile, the reduced elements radiate a strong impression of lightness.

The restrained use of decorative elements gives “First” an almost classic air among the Memphis objects, making it suitable for furnishing conventional interiors.

“Diva Mirror”

No one but Ettore Sottsass could've designed such an elegant mirror — an homage to his love of the human psyche, "reflected" in its inner & outer beauty.

Quasi-deco in manner, yet embellished in a supremely contemporary way with his translucent experimental Abet laminates, it is a show-stopper!!

Just the way the ladies & gents would want it!
