Brooklyn Clay Industries is a fully equipped Ceramic art studio located at the Brooklyn Navy Yard. A one stop shop for many Ceramic related Services and Products. Brooklyn Clay was created to help support and inspire pottery enthusiasts and artists alike. See, Learn, Create, and Teach in our newly renovated studio. We offer several ceramic related but not limited to clay classes and workshops. We

encourage artists to use our space for sharing their own artistic skills which they would self promote. Our small gallery can be used to stage photo shoots or rented short term for special client presentations etc. The studio will offer many special entertainment events that promote socialization and creativity. our Clay Fest Open Studio/Date Night every Friday evening of every month, (except when noted) where friends can gather to experience basic intro pottery techniques or paint on pre-made ceramic bisque forms as you sip wine or your favorite beverages to soft background music and a million dollar view of the East River and Manhattan skyline.( Register online .net . To hold your spot) Brooklyn Clay offers Kiln Repair, Firing, a RESIDENCY/RENTAL program and internships to help support ceramic artists, and students, as a way of giving back. Serving the under-served. Our gallery/gift shop sells works by the professional artist using the Studio and select works by guest artists. We also sell select tools, brushes and limited Miscellaneous Ceramic Supplies.

Join the dynamic 8-week ceramics workshop at Brooklyn Clay Industries and discover the creative potential of hand-built clay.

Through hands-on instruction, students will explore foundational techniques including pinching, coiling, slab-building, and carving, while also learning approaches to glazing and finishing. As the course progresses, participants will be encouraged to develop original projects of their own in a supportive studio environment.

Each 2-hour class combines practical making with short discussions on contemporary ceramic art, expanding students’ understanding of how clay functions as both craft and artistic expression.

Students will also receive weekly packets of readings and artist examples designed to inspire experimentation and deepen engagement with contemporary ceramics.

Brooklyn Clay Industries is currently accepting applications for our Internship and Work Exchange Programs for individuals interested in developing hands-on experience in ceramics and studio operations.

Our Internship Program is designed for students and beginners with little to no pottery experience who are eager to learn ceramics, studio workflow, and the day-to-day operations of a working clay studio in exchange for their time and any additional skills they may bring to the community.

Our Work Exchange Program is intended for individuals with some ceramics experience who are looking for a dedicated space to continue practicing their craft while gaining deeper knowledge of studio operations, kiln room procedures, and studio technician skills through hands-on participation.

We are looking for motivated, reliable, and community-minded individuals with a genuine interest in ceramics, craftsmanship, and collaborative studio culture.
