Issue #2 of In Situ/In Place is coming soon. A digital record and e-catalog of the ways artists around the world have responded to sheltering in place. Included will be the work of Katelin Hudson a young photographer living in Oklahoma. She eloquently writes “I had this pseudo-feeling for most of the quarantine- seeing days slip by seemingly fast, not being able to do anything about it. I constantly felt as if I were wasting this time in my life; simply just watching it pass me by”.

The art world is often built on undependable expectations of “fast” results. It is a pleasure to work with an artist who doesn’t care about these false promises. delivered what I feel is a modern masterpiece to his patient collector yesterday. “Weeds” began with the artist pulling a clump of damp earth from his backyard in New Jersey and setting down to slowly record what he saw. In homage to Albrecht Dürer’s 1503 masterwork Weatherly slowly and painstakingly captured the way light and shadow revealed the tiniest of details. 5 years later it is finished. It began long before the pandemic, but reminds us about the beauty of the everyday that lies at our feet.
