The Great Oregon Steam-Up is the largest event at Powerland Heritage Park during the year and it involves all of the museums and many other participants. The Great Oregon Steam-Up occurs annually during the last weekend in July and first weekend in August. One of the unique aspects of the event is that most of the equipment is operating. A parade takes place each day at 1:30 pm and includes vintag

e tractors, trucks, and automobiles. The steam powered sawmill operates twice a day and the trolley tours the site perimeter all four days of the show. Hear about innovators and manufacturers of the past. Machines include farm tractors and implements, early engines, crawlers, fire apparatus, vintage trucks and cars, logging gear, an early Oregon flour mill, and an authentic steam sawmill. Rides include an historic trolley and a miniature railroad. Scheduled activities: Machinery demos, sawmilling, flour milling, fire apparatus demos, harvesting, kids pedal tractor pulling, traditional tractor pulling, and a Big Parade! Other Attractions: Blacksmithing, a country store, models, early electricity exhibit, miniature farm display, children's passport program, swap meet and flea market sales, country music, and great food! Powerland Heritage Park is open each year April - September (Closed October - March).

πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ Remembering and Honoring This Memorial Day

Today, we pause to remember the men and women who gave their lives in service to our country.

This photo, taken during the opening flag-raising ceremony at The Great Oregon Steam-Up in 2023, shows Rick Dominguez of American Legion Cheula Post 92 in McCloud, CA, and Allen Buzzard of American Legion Post 184 in Brownsville, OR.

Moments like this remind us that history is preserved not only in machines, buildings, and artifacts but also in service, sacrifice, and remembrance.

From all of us at Powerland Heritage Park, we remember and honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice.

Some moments deserve more than a quick scroll. πŸ“Έ

Last Friday, the Western Railway Preservation Society put Caboose #3 back on wheels at Powerland Heritage Park! It was a huge milestone in a restoration effort that has been ongoing since 2013.

Built in the early 1940s for the West Side Lumber Co., this little 16-foot caboose has hauled sand into the woods for the Shay steam engines, survived decades of modifications, and spent 30 years sitting at a California RV park before coming to Oregon for preservation and restoration.

The process of putting a caboose back on its trucks (the wheelbases) is something most people never get to witness. It was thrilling to watch the whole thing. And we want you to enjoy it too, so we took these 15 photos for you AND created a highlight video (in the first comment).

Restoration continues, and you can see Caboose #3 in person at The Great Oregon Steamup, the last weekend of July and first weekend of August at Powerland Heritage Park in Brooks, Oregon!

This is the story of the little caboose that could!

Built in the early 1940s for the West Side Lumber Co., Caboose #3 spent decades hauling sand into the woods for the Shay steam engines. It survived a "circus caboose" makeover and sat abandoned at an RV park in California for 30 years. Caboose #3 is being restored and preserved at its new home.

On Friday, the Western Railway Preservation Society at Powerland Heritage Park put her back on wheels and onto their track. It's all part of a restoration effort that has gone on since 2013.

She's only 16 feet long, but she's got one of the biggest stories in narrow gauge history.

Restoration continues. We'll keep watching. πŸš‚

Come see Caboose #3 for yourself at The Great Oregon Steam-Up, the last weekend of July and first weekend of August at Powerland Heritage Park!
