Earlier this year, I had the opportunity to visit with Tony Darcy, supervisor of the Speedster Program, at the Northwest Vintage Car and Motorcycle Museum, in Brooks, Oregon, to learn about their hands-on educational initiative, designed to teach high school students automotive restoration skills, teamwork, and character development. https://youtu.be/TaNjEhoPvug
I enjoyed hearing about the program, observing how the students spend their time there, and to hear first hand from one of the students, what the program means to her. The Speedster Program is funded by monetary and vehicle donations. If you would like to make a donation, please call the Northwest Vintage Car and Motorcycle Museum at (971) 338-8657. The museum is located at the Powerland Heritage Park, which houses 14 hands-on heritage museums. Special events are held on select weekends from May-September. Bring the kids!
