This weekend we learned a bit about Mary Meikle Wright at the Broomfield Depot Museum. We heard the story directly from Mary as performed by local historian and enactor Colleen Sawyer.

Colorado’s first female Dairy Commissioner, Mary Meikle Wright, ran a successful cheese factory in Broomfield in the late 1800s and early 1900s. Her story is one of perseverance, overcoming obstacles and dedication that reveals a woman ahead of her time. Thank you to all who attended!

The ticket is a map allowing you to visit the sites in whatever order you wish.
Learn about Broomfield’s history from prehistoric peoples to Native Americans, homesteaders,ranchers and farmers, entrepreneurs, railroads, bank robbers(!) and post WWII community builders.

New Exhibit coming to the Broomfield Depot Museum:
"Moments that Made US"

On display beginning July 11, 2026
Most Saturdays, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The whole family is invited to check out the "Moments that Made US" exhibit at the Broomfield Depot Museum, created by History Colorado. Featuring stories and content from around the state, this exhibit commemorates the 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States and the 150th anniversary of the state of Colorado. It has also been enhanced with local stories and objects for the 65th anniversary of the City of Broomfield and the 25th anniversary of the City and County of Broomfield.
