Settlers Depot Gallery

We are an artisans' cooperative. Annually we have between 15 and 25 active members. All items in our store are made by our members.

Members also work the retail part of the business, maintain our historic structure - the old DSS&A rail depot, and are active in community events. We are proud to part of our community in Bruce Crossing and the Western Upper Peninsula of Michigan.

On SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 12TH, the Settlers Depot Gallery in Bruce Crossing will hold its annual FALL FIESTA & PLANT SALE.
**The plant sale fundraiser featuring perennials will start at 11 am.
**The Ottawa Lions Club will offer a free hot dog lunch for those attending the event.
**This year Kay Richter will demonstrate her unique use of beads in her creations that are displayed in the store.
**ALSO, New this year . . . . “SHARE YOUR HARVEST WITH YOUR NEIGHBOR”… The members of the Settlers Artisans are encouraging everyone who has extra produce from their gardens to bring it to share with other community members. We hope to make this “Free Share With Your Neighbor” a part of our annual event.

We are located right next to Settler’s
Co-Op Grocery store.

On Saturday, July 11, 2026, the Ontonagon Artist’s Cooperative hosted a free event, “Art In The Park. It was held at RICC Park in Ontonagon, MI.
Two of the Depot Gallery’s artisans, Marty Seid and Juliet Barton, participated in this event.

There were a variety of activities to choose from including:
*Paint a stick to be included in wreathes to brighten the community.
*Stitch something like a dragonfly on a bookmark (& take it home).
*Layer images to create shadow effects on cyanotype paper (& take it home).
*Learn Finnish exercise technique called "asahi", to improve strength & flexibility.
*Get a free 5 minute massage, by a professional.

Marty and Juliet tried several of the activities and had a lovely time! A steady stream of locals, guests of locals, and lucky tourists who chanced to pass took part. It was very hot but there were plenty of shade tents!
They enjoying sitting and chatting, and getting crafty with folks . . . . Especially knowing that they’ll soon be scouting the finished wreathes to see where theirs are incorporated!
They learned about this event on the Ontonagon County page. Watch for it next year and hopefully join in!
