“Indigo Still life” oil on board 24”x30” MATT BARTER . This piece will be on display at the Artemis gallery in Northeast Harbor. The opening reception will be on the evening of June 18th. For the “HOME” series I’ve been working on I spent a lot of time sketching with watercolors. These watercolor sketches affected by my finished oils in a few ways. The colors or color in this piece and the wet flowing look that I love with watercolors but don’t easily translate with oil paints. Looking forward to art opening receptions and seeing everyone again.

“Cannery Girls” oil on board 24”x32”. MATT BARTER . This show started out as a project about the cannery workers and quickly switched to a series about HOME. What it means to be at home and rest. The sardine canneries in Downeast Maine all faded away leaving behind old hulking, derelict buildings, and people who worked in them. This show will open in June with a reception on July 10th from 5-7:00 at the Arthouse in Brunswick Maine.
