This summer Cairnwood’s History & Education department received a generous donation of over 120 pieces of mid to late19th century/early 20th century costumes, undergarments, shoes, and accessories. The remarkable private collection was lovingly curated over several decades by Cairnwood supporter and Victorian Era enthusiast Barbara Kotzin of Cheltenham Township, PA. Several pieces were worn by Barbara in the 1980s & 90s for Victorian Society of Pennsylvania events and tours of her historic home. Photo: Lisa Parker-Adams (Director of History & Education) and intern Zoe from St. Johns Academy (Annapolis, Maryland) worked for several weeks photographing and processing the collection data and preparations for storage. Stay tuned for highlights from the collection displayed in the coming years—the first of which will be included in the Christmas exhibition opening in December—Personal Style—Bustles and Frocks.
