Big thanks to David Meshke and Sara Sutterfield for their hard work on the speeder logs today!

In the photos you can see wooden guides created to slice the logs at the correct angle. They tried double bucking but will probably continue with a chainsaw another day. 🙂

They moved on to chisel out the top of the log so the height between both sleds are equal for the water tank to sit on...another future project!

In 1988 Buckley celebrated its Centennial. Matt Randall, the young man, has been identified as the local Eagle Scout (WRHS Class of 1989) who organized getting the Wilkeson Sandstone rock for a plaque which tells how White River Siding became known as Buckley. Buckley was the Northern Pacific RR Superintendent. Can you help identify the people in these pictures?

From Walt Olsen's Slide Collection: A view of the Lake Tapps Flume. Believed to be the old road between Enumclaw and Buckley. Stan Hunt and Ricky Skaggen have given us the best identification. They have identified Mt Peak on left, gravel road to fish ladder on the right. Old road is now the Foothills Trail foot bridge. It connected Buckley to Enumclaw via Boise and Osceola Rd. Date ca 1976?

Our volunteers come to us with many diverse skills and experiences. They do so out of their passion for preservation of our history. While our projects are not at the level of reconstructing a steam locomotive, their work is no less valued or appreciated. On another note, who knew that Crisco could help fix a locomotive? If you have not visited this museum, put it on your summer bucket list.
