Queen City Culture Clash

Queen City Culture Clash QC3 is a fashion show fundraiser comprised of ethnic designs that have been remixed with street-wear to unveil the multicultural aspects of the Westside.

We are producing an independent fashion show with a theme we have dubbed "culture clash." The theme brings about an explosively vibrant mash up of art and culture. The show will feature young designers and shine a spotlight on the refugee/immigrant cultures of Buffalo's westside because we believe they should be celebrated. The show will consist of two sections- street style and design. The first

section will feature on-the-rise street wear brands whose clothing will be given a new spin by being styled with vibrant tribal fashions found within the boutiques located in the westside’s refugee community. By pulling pieces from the boutiques and styling them with local street wear brands, we create looks that are excitingly fresh and strong. This part of the show is meant to be bold, bright and youthful. After being injected with a myriad of heritage hues, the cool-kid street wear garments result in a look that can only be described as a 'culture clash'. A tough and unexpected look that boldly says this crumbling concrete jungle is my home and I won't give up on it. This is what we believe current street style fashion in Buffalo is all about : creative collaborative beauty. The second part of the fashion show will feature local fashion designers whose collections are inspired by their artistic interpretations of the fashion movement that is culture clash. These will be completely new and never before seen original designs. While each young designer has their own distinct style, the commonality is that each collection is inspired by Grant street and voices the designers own powerful statement. Grant street is filled with an array of cultures and this mixture of immigrants with west-siders creates a truly unappreciated energy and our goal is to bring life to that energy through original fashion designs. The Gypsy Parlor is our chosen venue for the fashion show and after party. The Gypsy Parlor is a new restaurant and bar who's menu is a melting pot of worldly dishes that have been inspired by the neighborhood's vast array of cultures. Not only are we excited to work with this beautiful and eclectic space that rests in the heart of the west side, we are very proud to work with The Gypsy Parlor because it's an establishment that embraces cultural diversity.
