The end of 2025 marks the end of an era for Burien Press. Many of you have followed along and supported us as we navigated the upcoming sale of the building we’ve called home since 2009. Because of your support, 2025 marks the end of Burien Press renting that building and the start of Burien Press owning it. That’s right, somehow we pulled off the impossible.

So many of you supported Burien Press this year in small and massive ways. Since we first shared the news last spring, it’s been a nonstop emotional rollercoaster day after day being amazed and overwhelmed at your generosity, efforts, and encouragement. Some of you supported us in ways we never imagined were possible. We don’t have words to express the impact its had on us.

At the very last second we were able to put together a group to purchase the building with. Over the next couple years we’ll be working to buy them out before refinancing with the SBA. The purchase includes Burien Press’s space, 423 152nd Street, and the neighboring storefront 421, that housed Jaffe’s Pawnshop for decades.

Over the coming year we’ll be repurposing the space to expand Burien Press’ seating, build our production kitchen, and split the front portion off to house another small business or businesses. We’d love your ideas of how we should use the space or if you know the perfect business to become our neighbor.

We’re a long ways off from being able to build out the space but just like paying off the building, we’ll be chipping away at it day after day with your support.

Thank you for making Burien Press possible.

Burien Press wouldn’t be the same without you. Happy New Year!

Since we launched the 10⁵ Challenge last week nearly 200 people have taken up the challenge and contributed $10 with a commitment to share the fundraiser with 5 people who might do the same.

Thank you to all of you who have contributed and shared so far.

Are next target is to reach 500 contributions! It’s a big jump and we know it’s possible with the kind of support you all have shown us so far.

If you’re just joining us, we have until the end of the summer to raise enough money for a down payment before our landlord sells our building. Our goal is $150,000.

Head to the comments for links

If we buy our building before our landlord sells it at the end of the summer, it'll be because so many of you made the choice to support us and make sure we can stick around Burien. While there've been some unbelievably generous contributions to our fundraiser, thank you all, what's going to make the difference is many, many, many, small contributions from folks who are also willing to spread the word.

If you're interested in supporting Burien Press in this journey, please consider taking on the 10⁵ Challenge. All you have to do is contribute $10 to our gofundme and share the challenge with 5 people you believe will do the same.

In a perfect world, we'd surpass our goal in just 7 generations of shares.

Will you help us raise the down payment on our forever home and have a permanent place in Burien before our landlord sells the building?

You can find links to our gofundme and the 10⁵ Challenge in the comments.

Thank you to all of you who are helping us get the word out and who have supported our campaign so far. You're making it all possible for us.
