One last time... make sure you drop what you are doing tomorrow and just take a ride over to Butternut for Christmas in the Village. It's a fabulous community wide Christmas shopping event featuring local arists, which translates into very unique Christmas gifts for you to buy. And it's fun and very cozy/ homey. Easy shopping. Start at the Village Hall on Michigan street to pick up your punch card and map. There are vendors throughout the downtown as well as up at the community park and the school. You can eat at various locations.... the Community Park, Butternut Cafe, Double D's, and Lori's Nook ... just for starters. Stop in at the museum for live Christmas music and cookies.... then work your way up the block. This is truly an all day affair... the shopping part runs from 9am to 3 pm... but there is more up at the park after three including a meat raffle and live music. Come on down!
The painting featured here is one of many at Fanatical Fish that will have one day 30% discount. Some paintings are discounted as low as 50%. When I'm dead these things will be worth some coin. Invest now. Or, maybe not....maybe they will just end up in a dumpster. But either way, today, they are pretty and will look nice over your couch. This one is called Red Field.

Just reminding everyone of Christmas in the Village on Saturday, December 6 - 9 am - 3 pm in Butternut, WI. This is a community wide shopping event featuring local artists at various locations throughout the town. Start at the Village Hall on Michigan St. to pick up a map and punch card. Get your card stamped at each location ( no purchase necessary) and then return it to the Village Hall to be eligible for a drawing of fabulous prizes. There are also events up at the Community Park; a food stand sponsored by the Butternut Girls Basketball team during the entire day and a meat raffle and music starting at 3 pm. This is a fantastic community event that grows larger every year. It's a great way way to find a unique, sensitive Christmas gift in a fun holiday atmosphere. Skip the chaos and chill of WalMart and buy local. Also, there will be live Christmas music at the Butternut Area Historical Museum throughout the event. Pictured below is work by Mary Zimmerman, Barb Boeck and Mary Anne Panke; just some of the many artists featured.

A big thank you to everyone who attended Village Fest. It was a fabulous night with great old fashioned food. Thanks to everyone who brought a dish to pass and for all the recipies. (Stay tuned for that future cookbook. ) Special appreciation goes out to John Lynch for his amazing musicianship. His talent on drums lends an energy and professionalism that cannot be overstated. Thanks to Dan Wagner at Super One for the Brats; to Jessie and Heather at Kwik Trip for the buns and condiments. Thanks to Glenn Wegner for his donation of ground signs to help us control the flow of traffic. Thanks to all the BAHS members for their help. Thanks to the Glidden Enterprise for the free ad on the front age- that was wonderful. Thanks to WCQM for Reality Radio and for plugging our event all week long- you guys are the best. Thanks to everyone who got up and danced. I am so proud to be a member of this big beautiful community.

Just letting everyone know the Butternut Area Historical Society is once again hosting Village Fest on Saturday, Sept. 13... a fabulous old fashioned community pot luck. We provide the brats, sauerkraut, German potato salad, beans and coffee... you provide your grandma's amazing casserole... or whatever fabulous dish you remember growing up as a kid. Food is history, and this is a great way to share our common heritage, through vintage dishes that we don't normally make. So please bring a dish to pass... and please include the recipie. We intend to make a cookbook that we can then sell, make money and pay the light bill. This event is at the Butternut Village Pavilion on Michigan St. and is completely handicap accessible. Time is 4-7... although we won't kick you out if you are having a good time. Live music by George Faltinosky on accordian and Johnny Lynch on drums. Beer and wine are available for purchase. But outside of beer and wine...THE EVENT IS FREE. Come on down and enjoy community fellowship and a brat.

Would you like to help staff the museum during this summer? It's really easy. It's not necessary to know all of Butternut's history; we have other people for that. We just need people to be available during museum hours to just welcome people and make sure museum artifacts are respected. We are looking for people to take a two hour shift during the season ( now until Labor Day). Our hours are Thursday, 11 am - 1 pm; Friday/ Saturday, 10 am to 2 pm. The slot that appears to be the most difficult to fill is Thursday. If you are interested, email Kelly at [email protected] or text her at 715-661-4814. Or stop in at Fanatical Fish during normal business hours. Kelly will show you the basics and do the locking and unlocking when you show up. Hope to see people sign up.
