This year, Mother’s Day feels different. It’s my first one without my mom. She was my rock, my guide, and the heart of our family. Today, I feel both the weight of her absence and the warmth of her incredible legacy.
My mom was so much more than just a mother. She was a teacher, both in the classroom and in life. She taught us kindness, resilience, the importance of family, and most importantly, how to love fiercely. She was also a writer who poured her heart and soul into her words, leaving pieces of herself for us to cherish forever.
Mom loved traveling with my dad, her partner of 59 years, exploring the world hand in hand. Together, they built a beautiful life centered around family, faith, and love. She was a mother of three, a grandmother of 10, and a great-grandmother of 15. But no matter how big the family grew, she cherished every single one of us as if we were her whole world.
We often joked that she was a “baby hog,” and honestly, it was true. She couldn’t resist holding the little ones, rocking them, and showering them with love. Her home was always a safe haven for all of us. Nana’s kitchen table was never without tea and cookies, and no one ever left her house hungry,,not just for food, but for love and comfort.
Mom was deeply faithful, and she worried about everyone constantly. It was just who she was. She wanted us all to be happy, healthy, and taken care of. And even though she’s no longer here, I still feel her concern, her prayers, and her love surrounding me.
Today, I honor her and all the beautiful memories she left behind. I see her in the laughter of my children, the hugs of my grandchildren, and the joy of my great-grandchildren. She may not be here physically, but her spirit is woven into the fabric of our family.
To my sweet mom, hank you for everything. For the love, the lessons, and the legacy. I miss you more than words can ever express, but I carry you with me every single day. Happy Mother’s Day in heaven.
Love always,
Wendy
