What a great Monday evening we had...every seat in the museum was taken! Paul Moseley, national and international award-winning Thumbpicking artist and member of the Thumbpicking Hall of Fame, accompanied by his son, Mike Moseley, on bass, entertained us for an hour. I saw head-bobbin', toe tappin' and knee slappin' going on around the room, and I might have taken a dance step ot two, myself. Here is part of the last song, titled "I'll See You in my Dreams"--a great song to close out this wonderful performance of a style of playing that began in Drakesboro, KY. Thanks to the artists and everyone that came out! 🎶 🎸

PAUL MOSELEY, International and National Award-winning Thumbpicking guitarist, will perform this Monday, Mar. 9 at 6 p.m. at the museum. Moseley plays in the style of Chet Atkins, and is known for his smooth playing and incredible tone. See you all Monday! Snacks will follow the performance. This free event is open to the public. The museum is at 540 Main Street in Calhoun. (Note that due to medical reasons, the Hudsons, unfortunately, will be unable to participate.)

These photos are of the L & N Railroad Water Tank in Livermore, KY, although I'm not sure they are the same tank. The first photo was taken in 1927, and the second photo, with Loyd Taylor, was taken around 1943. I like that the second photo mentions the location. The third photo is of the same tower in 1953. It's from a color slide. Thanks to Holly Kassinger Johnson for sharing it. Loyd Newton Taylor was born in Livermore in 1910, and in 1940 he was an employee at the Green River Chair Company. A 1942 article mentioned that he was president of the local union. He later moved to Terre Haute, IN. His death certificate stated he was not in the military; however, he's wearing a uniform here. A 1943 article said that "Loyd N. Taylor of Livermore was appointed captain of Company K, first regiment."
