The gallery’s vision is to show unique contemporary works of diverse media that are connected to California in some way and address all types of content, subject matter and approaches. Created by artists at varied stages in their careers and lives, works exhibited will often be local or regionally sourced. Fine design and other related arts-focused objects will also be featured. n street, in the center of town, the gallery will help bring an exciting new artistic presence and perspective on the Arts to Calistoga.

Between Logic and Light: Material and Meaning in Abstraction
Guest curated by artist & startup art director Ray Beldner, this group exhibition brings together six remarkable contemporary artists: Delbar Azari, Ray Beldner, Jamie Brunson, Fernando Carnauba, Arminee Chahbazian, and Cynthia Sumner.

Join us for the Opening Reception on Saturday, August 23, 3:30–6:30pm at Sofie Contemporary Arts (1407 Lincoln Ave, Calistoga).

Wine will be graciously poured by the amazing Castello di Amoroso winery.
Live music by Sharon Hedlund on keyboards—blending jazz standards with improvisation.

The exhibition runs August 23 – November 2, 2025.

We were delighted to host so many of our wonderful artists yesterday and enjoyed a truly wonderful turnout of friends and guests to view our new show FEMINA'24. It is a tremendous showcase of 15 outstanding regional women artists - not to be missed so please come and see it! The artists in FEMINA'24 use a broad spectrum of media and approach, encompass a span of ages and experience in the arts and have a discernible difference in intent. Many of the 15 artists have previously shown at Sofie Contemporary Arts and all of them either currently reside or have recently resided in the San Francisco Bay Area, primarily in Napa, Sonoma or Marin counties. The work ranges widely from gorgeously colorful abstractions, to charming collages, assemblages of found or re-created objects, beautiful portraits of women, reimagined historical artists' self-portraits, monumental eggs, suspended sculptures of microprint paper, cast paper florals, dancers, tributes to Ukraine and Lahaina, studies of birds and much more. It is a densely installed exhibition and there is much to see and consider in the 10-foot narrow but 90-foot long gallery.

Furious Spring: D.A. Bishop May 24 - Aug 18, 2024

We are delighted to feature D.A.Bishop's solo show entitled FURIOUS SPRING.
Don Bishop's landscapes always feel like places we've been before... Although not literal, his paintings portray something deeply familiar; it's hard to believe that anyone else has ever felt as intensely about a certain kind of time, place or even weather. But Don Bishop does, and he paints it.
Many of the works shown were first conceived when Bishop glimpsed remarkable transient conditions on his daily early-morning bicycle rides and paused to photograph an intoxicating moment, sometimes sharing the impact with other dawn riders who happened to witness the same view. From these momentary "sketches" of nearly super-natural conditions, Bishop created paintings that cast majesty against simple earthbound buildings. Aptly colored with lush greens, radiant golds, bruise-like violets and bloody corals, and almost always crowned with glorious clouds, the strange drama and paradox of our times is deeply infused into these paintings. The paintings have been a huge hit and we invite you to visit the show which runs until August 18th.

Sofie Contemporary Arts is delighted to announce its new solo exhibition, Will Ashford WORDSCAPES. Please join us for the Artist's Reception on Saturday, October 21st, from 4:00 - 7:00 pm. Light refreshments will be served and wines by Cade Estate Winery will be presented by the tasting room manager, Kevin Ferry. The exhibition continues through January 21, 2024. The gallery is located at 1407 Lincoln Ave, Calistoga CA.
