We are pleased to present three free opportunities for any artists who have exhibited with us in the past! From workshops to a winter market and pop up exhibition, these opportunities are ideal for creatives who want to connect with fellow Gallery 263 artists and sew connections for the new year. Submissions will be reviewed and curated by a subset of staff and board.

💚The Winter Market will be held Dec. 11-13. Vendor submissions are due no later than Nov. 13
💚The Alumni Pop Up Exhibition will be held Jan. 14-30. Submissions are due no later than Nov. 28
💚 Workshop proposals will be reviewed on a rolling basis through Jan. 31

We are so honored and full of appreciation for the many neighbors, friends, board members and volunteers who brought our 16th Foraged Banquet to life. Every fall we look forward to the shared conversations, laughter, and hand-crafted delicacies from Jaime Guyon and David Craft , and this year was no exception. Special thanks to Basil Tree and Katherine for providing such lovely food and refreshments for our community!

This work is a labor of love, and we couldn’t do it without the immense support from our Board of Directors. This year, we would like to especially honor our long-reigning Board President, Laura Kathrein who is stepping down after a decade of service. She is a true visionary, and so much of what we’ve accomplished has been brought to life by her passion and incredible work ethic.

Please share in our gratitude for the many makers behind this special place and our annual affair, from which 100% of proceeds go directly towards our programming advancing contemporary art and artists. As a small nonprofit organization, we rely on the help of our community and supporters to fulfill our mission. Thank you, and hope to see you soon ❤️

We are excited to present our first tarot making workshop on Oct. 29 from 6-8 pm!

Artist Emily Lubanko E.L. Art will share current and upcoming decks while facilitating this intimate workshop. Up to 15 participants will design a single card and learn how to build a deck at scale.

E. Lubanko is an artist, writer, tarot reader, and creator of the Lubanko Tarot, published October 2025 with Llewellyn. She creates high-intensity and brightly-colored work on tarot, the vivid, the mythic, the visceral, the sensual, and the psyche. Emily currently resides in Massachusetts and can be found painting, teaching, and wandering swamps.

Over the next two months, we welcome artists of all experience levels to join this year’s development series. These workshops will offer expert guidance on a particular subject, from residencies, gallery models and pricing artwork to cultivating press relationships. Gallery 263 is pleased to present At What Cost, now on view through November 8. Please join us for an artist talk Thursday October 15 or for a reception Friday October 23 (link in bio, rsvp optional).

This national exhibition juried by Andy Chan, features work from four zine makers across disciplines of design, technology, education, and fine arts. Together they celebrate the medium of zines and highlight the unseen labor, resources, and methods of productions that go into producing these small but mighty handheld works.

Immense gratitude to our artists Andrea Cabochan, Kristen Hearrold, Cait Maltbie & Angela Wei, our juror Andy Chan and our exhibitions director Kaitlin Benton.

Please join us next Thursday Oct. 15 for a zine and ephemera artist panel! This free event will feature At What Cost juror Andy Chan, artist Andie Cabochon and past small works artist and Somerville Zine Fest organizer Sadie Saunders.

At What Cost sheds light on the material expenses behind creative production. Centering zines and ephemera works, this exhibition will act as a testament to the desire for connection and information sharing in the face of rising costs of living.

The four-artist show aims to elevate this accessible medium to greater appreciation by highlighting unseen labor, resources and methods of production, such as the woodblocks, linocut and speedblocks utilized to hold stories.

As she writes, “It is important to acknowledge the privilege of having longstanding story telling traditions as a form of generational knowledge. Artists in this exhibition also respond to those absences by creating their own mythologies. In this way, we are reminded that these stories that we inherit are never fixed, rather they serve as aliving practice that preserves cultural memorywhile making space for new possibilities. I think they also remind us of our agency in cultural memory.”

The Porter Square public art projects in collaboration with The Mix The Mix Porter Square are now officially installed!

Experimental, multidisciplinary artist Lamees Rahman Lamees Rahman designed the window vinyl using printmaking, collage and digital processes.

Woodworker Jared MacDonald Jared MacDonald modeled the lending library after Camberville’s iconic triple-deckers, while painter and illustrator Grace Julian-Murthy Painter - Illustrator - Graphic Designer adorned it with native flowers, pollinators and cow patterns, representing Porter Square’s history as a cattle hub.

In a continuation of our Small Works Artist workshop series, Julia Welch julia welch will host an intimate workshop where participants will produce a multi plate print using linocut techniques.

The class will cover creating and sketching an image, transferring and carving the image onto a carve block, and printing a finalized piece. Open to all levels, experimentation encouraged!

Julia is a senior studying painting at the Rhode Island School of Design RISD Painting, raised in Sharon, MA. She is trained in painting, printmaking, and jewelry production. In her free time she enjoys hiking, reading, and going to the beach.

Please join us for an expansion of our annual Foraged Banquet with a High Tea Party on Sunday, October 18!

Inspired by the splendor of the high tea tradition and its roots as a gathering of community over a warm cup, our annual fundraising event will transform the gallery into a dining room for a feast of fresh, foraged foods alongside herbal tea and other creative beverage pairings.

In anticipation, we’d like to share a very special project. Last fall, your generosity turned our dreams of producing a documentary into reality.

Revealing the craft of this curated affair with some broader history about our founding, ethos and programming, this documentary will forever be a testament to our work as one of the last standing nonprofit art galleries in Cambridge.

Please share in our celebration for the unveiling of our first short film, made by filmmaker Ren Evans ren evans, cinematographer Brett Melican Brett Melican, musician Ryan Sinclair Ryan Sinclair, and produced by Marianna McMurdock Marianna McMurdock.
