Today is the day that the Seneca Chief will be in Rome NY. Come to the celebration.
The City of Rome invites the community and visitors from across the region to join us for Locktoberfest 2025 at Bellamy Harbor Park on Wednesday, October 8, 2025. This year’s festival promises to be one of our most exciting yet, featuring the arrival of the Buffalo Maritime Center’s full-scale replica of the historic Erie Canal Boat Seneca Chief as part of its remarkable 500-mile Bicentennial Voyage from Buffalo to New York City.
Locktoberfest is a free, family-friendly celebration filled with activities, entertainment, and history that will delight all ages. From live music to fireworks, educational exhibits to local food and craft vendors, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.
Festival Highlights Include:
• Food Trucks & Assorted Vendors | 12:30 – 7:00 p.m.
• Arrival of the Seneca Chief | ~12:30 p.m.
• Gathering of the Waters & Welcome Ceremony | 1:00 p.m.
• Explore the Floating Museum | 2:00 – 6:30 p.m.
Step aboard the Seneca Chief and experience recreated cabins, historical artifacts, and hands-on exhibits exploring the Erie Canal’s cultural, economic, and environmental legacy – including the vital contributions of Indigenous communities.
• Ceremonial Eastern White Pine Planting | 3:00 p.m.
• Live Music by Anthony Consiglio | 4:00 – 7:00 p.m.
• Spectacular Fireworks Over the Canal | 7:00 p.m.
