The Cannon Beach Arts Association (CBAA) is located in Cannon Beach on the scenic north Oregon coast. A 501(3)(c)nonprofit organization since 1986, the CBAA was founded with the intention of enhancing the vitality of the arts in Cannon Beach and the surrounding area. The CBAA continues to fulfill this goal today by bringing a wide variety of programs to members of our community and to visitors to our part of the Pacific Northwest coast. CBAA programs also provide opportunities for over 200 artists each year. Our Objectives:

– Operate the Cannon Beach Gallery to provide a venue for diverse arts in the community.

– Provide Cannon Beach with an annual schedule of programs in the arts for children and adults.

– Provide financial resources for individual artists to complete projects that are shared with the community.

Drawing Coastal Objects in Light & Shadow with
Instructor: Dorota Haber - Lehigh

During Stormy Weather Arts Festival!

Embrace stormy coastal weather by drawing an ocean objects from observation using chiaroscuro effect. From pearly lunar whites to raven's black we will be exploring a full range of light and dark to create mood and three dimensionality. We will work in loose and precise manner using tan surface with graphite pencil and white color pencil. All levels.

For pastel artist Donna Stevens, making art begins with slowing down.
Her work grows out of quiet moments spent in nature. Watching the light, listening to water and wind, and noticing the expressive shapes and personalities of trees.

Working primarily in soft pastel, Donna builds layer upon layer of color on sanded paper. The process is tactile and immersive, allowing her to return to the feeling of being in that landscape long after she has left.

“I exist in the space between the scene and the paper.”

Donna’s love of trees, water, and mountains has followed her from Missouri to Texas, Colorado, and now Portland, Oregon. Her work has been exhibited in juried exhibitions with the Northwest Pastel Society and Pastel Artists of Oregon.

We’re excited to share Donna’s work alongside David Carmack Lewis and Adrian Stanciu in TREE STORIES, on view through November 2, 2026.

Artist David Carmack Lewis makes art for the same reasons he did as a kid: to look at something real and imagine it might be more than it seems.

That sense of wonder is at the heart of his paintings. Rather than looking for answers, David paints to keep asking questions about life, the universe, and everything in between.

Born and raised in Virginia, David has lived across the U.S. before settling in Portland, Oregon. His oil paintings have been widely exhibited and recognized with numerous awards, and he has created large-scale murals for public and private spaces throughout the country. His work has received support from the Ford Family Foundation, Oregon Arts Commission, and Regional Arts & Culture Council.

OPENING RECEPTION! TREE STORIES
Come celebrate the opening of Tree Stories this Friday, October 2, from 4–6 PM at Cannon Beach Gallery!

This beautiful collaboration brings together three artists David Carmack Lewis, Adrain Stanciu, and Donna Stevens.

For these artists, trees can be mysterious, dramatic, beautiful, and even a little ominous. Think old forests, Grimm’s fairy tales, ancient stories, and the feeling that the trees might be watching you back...

Come see the work in person, meet the artists, enjoy an evening at the gallery, and help us kick off our October exhibition!

The Exhibition will run from Oct 2 - November 1, 2026.

Insane colored-pencil drawings by artist

We gathered to celebrate Lila Wickham as she retires from our Board of Directors. 💙 For 12 years, Lila has shared her time, dedication, and heart with our organization including serving as Board President and Treasurer.

While we’re definitely sad to see her leave, we’re incredibly grateful for the countless hours, leadership, and care she has given over the years. Her impact on our organization and community will be felt for years to come.

Luckily, this isn’t goodbye but a “see you later!” Lila will continue sharing her talents through her volunteer work with Cannon Beach Medical Reserve. ❤️

Thank you, Lila, for 12 years of leadership, service, and so much heart. We’re so grateful for you! 💙

And we have a feeling Mojo is going to be pretty happy about the extra beach walks in his future, too! 🐾😉
