This internationally known nonprofit historic site preserves the tangible and intangible heritage of the Canterbury Shakers. Canterbury Shaker Village is dedicated to preserving the 200-year legacy of the Canterbury Shakers and to providing a place for learning, reflection, and renewal of the human spirit. Visitors are encouraged to learn about the life, ideals, values, and history of the Canterb

ury Shakers through tours, programs, exhibits, research, and publications. The Village has 25 restored original Shaker buildings, 4 reconstructed Shaker buildings, and 694 acres of forests, fields, gardens, nature trails, and mill ponds under permanent conservation easement.

We are excited to join our partners and neighbors Sanborn Mills Farm at their Open Farm Day Saturday, June 13th

Open Farm Day is a free, family-friendly event from 10am - 3pm featuring:
Demonstrations
Farm tours
Opportunities to learn about agriculture, conservation, education, and community resources.

Additionally, a delicious farm-to-table lunch will be available for purchase.

If you are interested in local food systems, traditional farming, heritage crafts, and historical preservation and trades......this is where you need to be!

We’re excited to share that we’re participating in NH Gives on June 9–10!

This 24-hour online giving event supports nonprofits across New Hampshire, taking place from 5 p.m. on Tuesday, June 9 through 5 p.m. on Wednesday, June 10.

This year, your donation to New Hampshire Gives is an investment in protecting our national resources and will benefit many of our current grounds projects including:

Pruning and maintaining orchards
Reconstruction of dikes and dams
Maintaining public-use trails
Create accessible pathways
Plant acres of vegetables and flax

First Shaker Barn Dance at the North Shop of the year was great!

Constructed in 1841 on the site of an earlier wood shed, the North Shop is one of the most pristine structures in the village, virtually unchanged since its construction. Most of the first floor was used as a wood house, accessed by two sets of wide door openings on both the north and south sides.

Over 180 years of history on those floorboards, and they held up well for all the dancing going on!

Get your feet moving in this incredible, historic space and join us for the second barn dance on June 18th. Bring your family, bring your friends, bring your community, and get ready to dance!
