Groundhog Day has arrived and once again, meteorologists all over the country may be grimacing as our furry forecaster takes center stage. Although he’s very cute and surly, Phil has maintained a 30% accuracy over the past decade. But we’re just here to report the facts—shadow or no shadow—not his merit as a meteorologist.

Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow today. If he’s right, keep those coats and gloves out and hunker down for another six weeks of winter weather. We’re pulling out the hot cocoa as we speak.

The Canton Museum of Art will be hosting a two-day ALICE Instructor Certification Training Course on October 29th and 30th, 2025 from 8am-5pm. This 2-Day Instructor training course is designed to teach participants the skills and strategies to increase survivability during the gap between the time a violent event occurs and, law enforcement arrives. Upon successful completion of this course, you will be a Certified ALICE Instructor and will have the knowledge and resources to train others in your community.

Training includes:
Background: Statistics and information about active shooter situations and why ALICE Training is effective.
ALICE Concept: Detailed overview of ALICE Training and the liability of proactive vs. passive response strategies.
Physical Drill: Experience live scenario drills that compare a static vs. active ALICE response.
Effective Training: Strategies and materials to become an effective ALICE instructor in your organization.
