At Painted Wren Art Gallery we are working diligently on the America250 Mural.

In this photo you can see that two of the panels (there are three total) have been turned upside down. This is the most reasonable way to get the painting done. Working from a ladder would not be practical and we are not giants. But we can paint upside down 🙃 😊

Each triangle is being painted at least three times in order to get the colors as rich and beautiful as possible. We hope as the mural comes to life that more and more people from across Missouri will show interest and voice support for our efforts. The mural is being created on behalf of Missouri citizens as a way to acknowledge our appreciation of being a vital part of the United States of America. The United States will celebrate its 250 year anniversary on July 4, 2026.

We finished our day of delivering Bicentennial Mural easels by taking one to Bernie Middle School in Bernie, Missouri. We spent several minutes of great conversation with art teacher Kristin Livingston. She was very enthusiastic about her students, school and job. Her students were at lunch when we were there, but colorful student artworks displayed around the art room showed evidence that she is a good teacher. She was hopeful that the school would find a way to purchase one of the 4ft long replicas for the school. We hope so, too. … pictured holding the easel and replica are Aaron and Ms Livingston. Bernie Middle School is a very neat clean place.

While presenting one of the easels to Dexter T.S. Hill Middle School, Barb and I were interviewed by two accomplished journalism students. The school publishes a monthly school newsletter about things of interest to their fellow students and faculty. We were pleased that they chose to interview us for inclusion in their newsletter. They asked many questions about how we and 16,116 people worked together to create the huge 12ft high X 30ft wide Missouri Bicentennial Mural. Mr Scott Kruse, the school’s laudable principal, welcomed us and stood in on this photo alongside us and the two young ladies who interviewed us. Great people teach and learn at Dexter Middle School. We love you all!!

On March 14, 2024, we traveled to Sikeston Middle School and presented art teacher Ms Hardin with one of the easels used to display one of the 15 panels of the Missouri Bicentennial Mural during the Missouri Bicentennial Celebration at the State Capitol. The first photo shows Ms Hardin, Aaron and Barb. The 2nd photo shows an enthusiastic group of students who posed with us. Sikeston Middle School is a very nice school overflowing with polite happy students and teachers. We like Sikeston.

Today we took an easel and a replica of the Missouri Bicentennial Mural to Delta, Missouri. The school principal, Mrs Cook, accepted the large easel for use in the art room or at other events. Mrs Sheila Eby made a down payment on the mural replica which will be displayed in a prominent place at the school.

We thank these two fine ladies for giving of their time to meet with us. As we talked it was obvious that they care deeply about the students at Delta Public Schools.

We are aware that Delta Ladies Basketball Team made a strong run at State this year. We congratulate them!!
