It is with deep sadness that we announce the loss of two great men, both community leaders with a deep connection to the historical society. Ellsworth Gregory and Tom Little Bear Nason both passed away recently.

A significant part of the Society for many years, Ellsworth was Past CVHS President (1992-2008), Board Member Emeritus, Membership Chair (1991-1997), and a longtime docent. He will be remembered for working tirelessly to promote and assure the success of the Society and History Center. Our condolences to his family and his wife Trudy.

Tom Little Bear Nason, Chairman of the Esselen Tribe of Monterey County left his indelible mark on the Carmel Valley Historical Society. He was a dedicated elder who contributed deep tribal knowledge and many artifacts to create the Indigenous Peoples exhibit, one of the History Center’s most popular. We send our deep condolences to his wife Cara, the Nasons and related families. Pictured is Uncle Rod Lambert with Tom (2010).
