The Magdalena Gallery of Art will have a different look for the November Gallery Walk. Jerry Points, former owner of Eye on Art Gallery and Art Advisor to the City, has joined Magdalena Hoyos-Segovia as partner. Points will be the Curator of Exhibits, selecting contemporary art at reasonable pricing for their patrons. Points was sidelined last year with shingles advancing to Postherpetic Neuralgia. The new gallery will be Magdalena and Jerry Points Gallery of Art. Magdalena will continue to paint and exhibit, but with more time developing the Carmel Academy of the Arts.

New works from ten artists will be featured in November followed by the Annual 100 under $100 in December. Cary Shafer, sculptor from Fort Wayne, will also be exhibiting some small sculptures completed prior to the new work on Main Street.

As most of you know by now, I had to close the gallery because of a severe case of shingles. 11 months in and still a lot of pain. Anyway, I won't bore you with all of that, but wanted to let you know that I am still working out of my studio at home. I even moved the sign. It is a wonderful space to paint. I am also represented by Editions Limited Gallery in Carmel and Castle Gallery in Fort Wayne.I am exploring other galleries, out of state, that exhibit my contemporary landscapes.Give me a call sometime and take a look at the new works. I had a meeting with artist Paul Messink this morning about showing in Eye On Art Gallery. His work is very distinct and creative in its presentation. He won Best of Show last night at Gallery 924, Heartland Glass.

I have not been painting in the studio for the last month or so and have returned with a little different perspective, continuing to alter the color palette. I am still working from nature and the abstract shapes it provides.

I wanted to see how Red Nebula by Jill King looked on my deck facing the morning sun. Here was the result. Hesitant for me to return it to the gallery, but it is back. Blue Nebula sold yesterday. Better hurry.

The Journey
Barbara Calkins Strassberg

I call it the The Journey, because of what I first thought when I saw Barbara's wall mounted ceramic boats. My life has certainly been a journey and it took a while to figure it out that I needed others to join me. Come into the gallery and see if it speaks to you.

It is rare that a work is sold prior to the artist's reception, but it happened this am. Jill King just delivered the works yesterday afternoon and I was in early to hang the show. Gallery Opening is August 9, but hey, I'll sell it early anytime. Blue Nebula, SOLD.

The exhibit is up at eye On Art Gallery and ready for the Gallery Walk Saturday night, 5-9pm. I am very pleased to feature work from two creative artists and friends, April W***y and Wendy Franklin. Their works look fantastic and work well together.
