A Happy Valentine's Day - Heart to Hart:

Today's appropriate theme is Hart Skis. In their day they dominated the pages of ski magazine advertising with models like the, Camaro, Hornet and high end, Hart Javelin ( that we all wanted many couldn't afford). A very American company, they had their share of racers (Like Billy Kidd) but unlike many of their competitors, they keyed in on the fun and freestyle aspect of the sport with the likes of Art Furrer, Roger Staub and Suzy Chaffee ...They had a good run but when the sports growth days slowed so did their profits and they were sold to Beatrice Foods who quickly cut back on R&D. With the industry transitioning away from all metal skis towards composites and fiberglass, Hart never again gained their market share and fame but we remember them well and we have a few great examples from local Sugarloaf skiers in our collection.
