Southeastern Quilt & Textile Museum Promoting and preserving quilts and textiles in the southeast through exhibits and educational opportunities, SQTM is located in Carrollton, GA

The Southeastern Quilt & Textile Museum (SQTM), is a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization committed to education and presentation of quilts and textiles. The SQTM collects, exhibits, preserves, promotes and interprets the heritage, art and production of quilting and textiles in the southeastern United States. Since 1998, members of the Georgia Quilt Project and the Georgia Quilt Council have tire

lessly planned and advocated for the creation of a quilt and textile museum in the southeast. In 2009, the Georgia Quilt Council formally selected Carrollton, Georgia as the home of what would soon become the Southeastern Quilt & Textile Museum (SQTM). On September 15, 2013, the SQTM opened is doors to the public in a corner of the former Cotton Producers Association/Gold Kist Cotton Warehouse located at 306 Bradley Street in Carrollton’s Historic Downtown. The exterior of the building is adorned with the work of nationally recognized sculptor, Gordon Chandler, who has loaned his work to the museum. Exhibits at the museum have featured traditional and contemporary quilts by both solo artists and various regional guilds, and a partnership with the Center for Public History at the University of West Georgia has enabled the museum to exhibit highlights of the history of the local textile industry. Additional programming includes quilting workshops and lectures by quilting and textile experts.

📌 NEW EXHIBIT COMING SOON
Did you know that Carroll County celebrated its 200th birthday this year?! On June 9, 1826, Carroll County was created by the Georgia General Assembly. And 186 years later a former cotton warehouse in Carrollton--once a center for cotton trading with several textile mills located in the city--was chosen for our museum's home. How cool is that??
Join us for a special exhibit as we take a look at how quilts and other textiles shaped the lives of Carroll County natives then and what current artists and hobbyists are making today! "200 Years: Celebrating Carroll County's Bicentennial through Local Quilts & Textile Stories" will open on September 19!
