The Bartow History Museum and the Mulinix Research Center will be closed on Monday, September 7, in observance of Labor Day.

We will resume regular hours on Tuesday, September 8.

FINAL WEEK! Voices & Votes: Democracy in America, a traveling exhibit from the Smithsonian Institution's Museum on Main Street program will close on Saturday, September 5th. Don't miss your chance to see this extraordinary look at American history and the ways in which American democracy has developed of, by, and for the people. The exhibit highlights voting rights, civic engagement, campaigning, protests, and more through artifacts, media, photographs, oral histories, and interactive displays.

In addition to the national story of democracy, local stories of civic engagement are also told through items from the Bartow History Museum's own collection.

The Bartow History Museum is open Monday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. For more information, visit www.BartowHistoryMuseum.org.

Join the Bartow History Museum at The Grand Theatre for a special America 250 celebration featuring an unforgettable evening of storytelling, music, and reflection.

This event is part of By the People: Conversations Beyond 250, a series of community-driven programs created by humanities councils in collaboration with local partners. The initiative was developed by the Federation of State Humanities Councils and the Smithsonian Center for Folklife and Cultural Heritage.

Through spirituals, folk songs, gospel traditions, and more, Sparky and Rhonda Rucker will share the stories behind the music that has shaped our nation. Their inspiring performance will explore how songs have preserved history, celebrated resilience, and served as a powerful voice for freedom, hope, and social change.🎤✨

How has voting technology changed - and what can its history tell us about the future of elections?

Join us for Voting Then & Now: A Tale of Tabs, Touchscreens, and Turning Back to Paper, an engaging Lunch & Learn presented by Bartow County Election Supervisor Joseph Kirk.

Kirk will explore the evolution of voting systems in the United States, from punch cards and “hanging chads” in the 1990s to touchscreen voting machines and today’s renewed interest in hand-marked paper ballots. He’ll also discuss the Help America Vote Act and how federal reforms changed election administration and the voting experience nationwide.
