Great local news !
- LUCILLE LORGE NAMED MUSEUM CURATOR - Wednesday night, the Castro Valley History Museum board named Lucille Lorge as their founding Curator.
The backbone of the newly formed, nonprofit Castro Valley History Museum organization owes its existence to the efforts of Lorge’s 50 years of collecting and sharing the history of Castro Valley.
Lorge grew up in Castro Valley and and her passion for sharing and preserving the history of our town translated in to her co-authoring the indispensable 2005 “Images of America, Castro Valley” book.
Her passion for Castro Valley history was ignited when she discovered her great-grandfather, Henry Thomford, had opened one of the region’s earliest businesses "The Exchange" in the 1880s. For Lorge, this personal connection to Castro Valley’s origins became a lifelong mission to preserve, teach, and celebrate the town’s rich heritage.
"Knowing where we came from helps us know where where we are going,” Lorge told CVN in a past interview.
Twenty two panels featuring Lorge's historical photos and information will be on display at no charge to the public at the Adobe Art Center and Gallery from 11 AM - 3 PM every Saturday through March 27. The Adobe Art Center is located at 20395 San Miguel Avenue in Castro Valley.
