From our Alsatian family. Please share everywhere!

A heartfelt letter of gratitude arrived today from Olivier Braun, the lead teacher who brought the film crew from Munster, Alsace. Read on....

There are journeys that change a schedule, and there are journeys that change a life.
We left Alsace with cameras, notebooks, and questions.
We returned from Texas with something far greater: voices, faces, hands held, stories entrusted, and a living thread stretching across the ocean.

In Castroville, we did not simply film a place. We encountered a memory that refuses to fade. A language carried like an ember. A culture not preserved in glass, but lived—spoken, danced, shared around tables, passed from one generation to the next with quiet pride and stubborn grace.

To all of you—families, dancers, historians, students, friends—who opened your doors, your homes, your archives, your hearts: thank you is too small a word.
You did not welcome us as visitors. You received us as kin.
We came searching for traces of Alsace and we found a mirror.
And in that mirror, we saw not only what remains—but what continues, what transforms, what resists time.

There is something profoundly moving in realizing that identity is not a place—it is a movement. A crossing.
A voice that travels, falters, rises again, and finds new breath thousands of miles away.
Between Munster and Castroville, something now exists that did not exist before. Not just a film. A bond. A bond made of shared laughter, of long conversations under warm Texan skies, of accents meeting and reshaping one another, of young people discovering that history is not behind them—but alive, and calling.

We carry you with us. In our images. In our words.
In the film that will soon be born from this extraordinary human adventure.
And this is only the beginning.
Because what has been woven together here—between Alsace and Texas—will not unravel.
It will grow.
It will echo.
It will inspire.

Across the ocean, an Alsatian voice still speaks.
And now, it speaks louder than ever.

With gratitude, admiration, and friendship—always.
We sincerely hope we can come back to share the movie with you !
