The Museum at Lassen's Resort is closed today in observance of Memorial Day. We hope you have enjoyed your weekend and are now pausing to remember the purpose of this annual day of remembrance.

As we announced at our May 7th Season Opening Celebration, in addition to the rotating exhibit room display at the museum this season, we are going to celebrate America’s 250th in another way this year as well.

Heroes Gallery Wall of Honor

During Summerfest Sunday afternoon, we will debut our new Captain Andrew W. Laud Heroes Gallery Wall of Honor. Captain Laud's family has provided the lead gift to develop this exhibit. This permanent display will be installed to recognize the men and women who have served to provide the freedoms that we enjoy today.

If you would like YOUR hero included on this Wall of Honor so that we can honor him or her as our hero too, please complete the application by June 7, 2026. A minimum $75 donation must be made with the application. Applications will also be accepted in person at the museum during normal operating hours if you would like to pay with cash or check. Lassen's Resort 105th Anniversary Celebration - May 7, 2026: The Cedar Lake Historical Association hosted its annual celebration of the grand opening of the Lassen's Resort Hotel and marked the occasion by awarding the 2026 Beatrice Horner Cultural Award to Mary Joan Dickson and cutting the ribbon on several new grant funded museum exhibits. Thank you Indiana Historical Society, Lilly Endowment, Inc., Legacy Foundation, Indiana Humanities, Indiana Landmarks, and Lake County Master Gardeners -- and all the volunteers -- who made these new experiences possible!

Congratulations to Mary Joan Dickson, recipient of the 2026 Beatrice Horner Cultural Award. If you missed the Season Opening Celebration last night and debut of our new exhibits, you have another opportunity for a complimentary walk-through tomorrow, Saturday, May 9th. Along the South Shore is sponsoring a free museum admission day from 2 to 6pm. No RSVP required.

We are honored recipients of a 2026 Lake County Master Gardeners grant in support of our Indigenous Garden that will debut on May 7th. This plant sale funds the grant program.
