Iowa politicians aren’t the only ones who do 99 county tours. Eastern Iowa writer and runner Tyler Sullivan is visiting all the counties and (almost) all the towns, and then sharing all his adventures with all of us.

He’ll do a free slide show about his Iowa explorations on Sunday, June 7, at 2 p.m. at the Center Point Depot Museum, 700 East Washington St. Check out his page - Iowa Scenic Views By Foot

The Historical Society is sponsoring a program on HENRY A. WALLACE, Pioneer Hi-Bred seed corn founder. Tom Milligan, of Amana, will be doing the re-enactment of Henry. The program will be held on Sunday, April 19, at 2:00 at the Center Point Public Library 'little room' in the basement. We Iowans owe a bunch of our routine 200-bushel-plus corn yields to fellow Iowan Henry A. Wallace (1881-1965) who started the hybrid corn revolution in the early 20th century. Wallace was also editor of Wallaces’ Farmer magazine, U.S. Secretary of Agriculture in the Depression, Franklin Roosevelt’s vice president, and a Progressive Party presidential candidate in 1948. President Roosevelt once told him “You know Henry, the things you believe in are all going to come some day. Your problem is you’re just too far ahead of your time.”

!!!!! CHOCOLATE FESTIVAL !!!!!!!!
Sunday, February 8, from 1 to 4 p.m., at the Depot Museum, 700 E. Washington, Center Point.
This is the third year for the Center Point Historical Society free chocolate festival at the Depot Museum. And it feels like a little chocolate comfort and kind community gathering is just what we need.

The Stuelke family and Dawn Farmer and other Historical Society volunteers will offer a free chocolate fountain and delectable dippers, a hot cocoa bar, and chocolate bingo games.

Chocolate treats can be purchased from two vendors: Heather Hingtgen of Heather’s Cake Studio at Center Point and Brittany Aldrich of Big Creek Chocolates at Springville.

There will also be some new museum displays. The Historical Society theme for 2026 is farming. Admission is free. The Depot Museum is regularly open on Sunday afternoons, May through October, and by appointment.
