Hands On History Summer Camp 2026

Now offering four weeks!

Chadds Ford Historical Society invites students entering 3rd to 6th grade to join an immersive camp that explores life in the 18th century and beyond. Each day, campers will explore the past through nature, the arts, and colonial life. Various camp activities include fabric dyeing, candle making, papermaking, colonial games, a nature scavenger hunt, a simulated archaeological dig, and bread baking at the 18th century home of John Chads.

Campers will also participate in 18th century demonstrations, hike the Brandywine trail, and take part in a Revolutionary War themed escape room. In addition to these activities, plenty of time is provided for free play and unstructured fun. Campers will not want to miss this chance to experience Hands on History!

Camp Weeks: June 15-19, July 6-10,
July 20-24, - several openings
and August 3-7
Time: 9AM-3PM
Grades: Students entering 3rd-6th
Pricing:$350 (Member), $360 (non-member early bird), $375 (non-member regular)

We have great vendors, Authors, tour, fresh bread- baking demonstration in our beehive oven !

At 1 PM reading of the decoration of independence from the front steps !

On May 16th, from 10am to 4pm,
join us at the Barns-Brinton House - this wonderful historic building will be open for tours, bread baking, demonstrations, authors, and reenactors. There will be a reading of the "Declaration of Independence" at 1pm.

Now offering four weeks!

Tune in Saturday to watch the 2025 Battle at Chadds Ford! American History TV visited a Revolutionary War battle site for our America 250 series. Reenactors mark the anniversary of the 1777 Battle of Brandywine in Pennsylvania, a victory by British troops which led to their capture of the colonial capital of Philadelphia. The reenactment takes place at Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania.

Watch this Saturday at 11 AM ET on -SPAN 2 American History TV.
