While the museum is closed today it's important today to remember those who have fought for our country and gave their lives in the U.S. Armed Forces. This memorial event was held by the AM Vet Post 3 of Champaign sometime in the late 1970s or 1980s.

Wilber is at the old Flatiron in downtown Urbana built in 1906. The building was designed by renowned local architect Joseph William Royer, sat at 302 W. Springfield Ave, and was the tallest building in Urbana at the time aside from the Courthouse. It housed law offices, the Elks Lodge, Illinois Department of Public Welfare, and even Royer's architecture office.

On March 11, 1948 the building was devestated by fire, gutting the interior leaving only exterior remaining. This picture shows the aftermath of the fire before the remains were demolished. The Firestone Station garage behind the Flatiron survived the fire with only minor damage and still remains today.
