THE DRAWING-BOARD STUDIO
The Drawingboard Studio is an Abstract Impressionism Art Studio hosting BYOB VanGogh and Vino Painting Classes at the 'Dogpound' in Chappell & Mobile Painting Parties in the Nebraska Panhandle Region, Eastern Wyoming, Northern Colorado, and the Denver area. ght by Michelle Tynan. We have classes every Saturday at the Dogpound in Chappell. What is Impressionism? Impressionism is a style of painting characterized by time, movement, and perception made popular in Paris in the early 19th century. (Manet, Monet, Renoir, Degas, Matisse, Hopper) It's a departure away from established classical painting principles of age, and would be the opposite of, for example, realism. (The Gleaners, The Stone Painters, The thinker, Olympia). Our classes focus on a progression of Impressionism techniques, which are largely characterized by slow, highly textured painting on non traditional surfaces. We don't draw on a canvas or painting surface, or have a preconceived idea of what the painting will look like. We train students to build a painting, (and awareness), using momentum, and impressionism techniques. There is no "wrong" idea, and likewise there is no perfect painting. All paintings are progressions of an idea, and a student cannot make a mistake, therefore no editing of a painting is necessary. (Think of it like "Painting Yoga")
For most paintings, we mix drywall compound with acrylic paint, and paint on non-traditional surfaces like drywall. Sometimes using pallet knives along with paint brushes. We don't look at photographs and copy them. All subjects are either memories, a perception in our environment, or from dreams and imagination. The idea is to create a perception in time with movement, so each painting will have an active energy, creating a visceral emotional response from the viewer. "As your teacher I have the experience of working for a 'painting party company' in Chicago where I showed students how to copy paintings (begrudgingly), and can tell you that you will get a lot more out of a painting experience where you don't copy a painting. All of the techniques learned in painting can be applied in other aspects of life. Each experience you have painting, whether with instruction, or on your own, will teach you a valuable discipline, and things you don't know about yourselves, but want to explore. It truly is a labor of love and there is an artist in everyone!" Michelle Tynan
CLASSES FOR EVERYONE
Classes are 45 per class, EVERYONE IS WELCOMED!! Don't be shy if you have never painted or feel you cannot draw a stick figure. There are lovely masterpieces in many art museums with funny stick figures too. Classes and Parties are hosted at the Dogpound, the beloved mancave that was the garage in our Chappell Nebraska home!

HOW IT WORKS
To design your own party, choose the painting for the class, the time and day, invite guests, and choose your venue. We will host at the Dogpound, or come to you, provide all materials, complimentary hors d'oevre, and your guests are welcomed to BYOB. The Dogpound is complete with jukebox, fridge for beer and white wine, vintage game room, and onsite sitter. Childcare is $2 per child per hour. Classes are one and half hours, with 30 mins. for clean up. CLASSES EVERY SATURDAY IN CHAPPELL
Classes are every Saturday at 7:30pm at the Dogpound. Birthday, Anniversary, and Bachelorette Parties may be planned on any day of the week. You choose the date and time, invite your guests, pick an original painting from the art studio to feature for your class, and your venue. ABOUT YOUR INSTRUCTOR
"I am an abstract impressionist artist classically trained and majoring in studio art at Indiana University, graduating with a BA in 2001. No painting or painting style is too difficult for adults and children. Enthusiasm is the best quality to have as a new student!"
Michelle Tynan's art studio, the Drawingboard, is located in Chappell Nebraska. All paintings featured for kids and adult painting classes are made, copyrighted, and sold exclusively from the Chappell art studio. Michelle Tynan is a published artist and has sold her work internationally, and worked out of multiple cities/ galleries in the U. S., including: San Francisco, Indianapolis, Detroit, Denver, and Cheyenne Wyoming. The Drawingboard is a multi-function studio featuring Vangogh and Vino kids and adult painting classes at the Chappell studio every Saturday and Mobile Painting Parties, Painting Leasing for Home Staging, and Painting Acquisition to private collectors of Michelle Tynan paintings. Acquisitions are available to private collectors directly through the Chappell art studio, and via the Drawingboard online store. Current and past work from 2010 to date is available for sale online.
