It was a pleasure attending ๐๐ฉ๐ข๐ณ๐ญ๐ฐ๐ต๐ต๐ฆ ๐๐ฐ๐ญ๐ญ๐ฆ๐ค๐ต๐ด: ๐๐ญ๐ข๐ค๐ฌ ๐๐ฐ๐ญ๐ญ๐ฆ๐ค๐ต๐ฐ๐ณ๐ด ๐ฐ๐ฏ ๐๐ฐ๐ฏ๐ต๐ฆ๐ฎ๐ฑ๐ฐ๐ณ๐ข๐ณ๐บ ๐๐ณ๐ต at the Gantt and taking part in an important conversation around collecting, stewardship, and the role art plays in shaping culture. The evening brought together remarkable voices, including my friend CCH Pounderโan acclaimed actress, but also a thoughtful and significant collector and patron of contemporary art today.
As a featured panelist, CCH shared insights drawn from decades of championing artists of the African diaspora and building a collection that has become influential in its own right.
I was equally delighted to welcome CCH to the gallery, where we spent time looking at works by Romare Beardenโan artist who holds a particularly meaningful place in my gallery.
Romare, known to me as โRomieโ, was the very first artist I represented when I opened my gallery more than 40 years ago, and his work continues to inspire me today and I often reflect that he was like a grand father to me. Sharing those stories and moments was a reminder of how art creates lasting friendships and meaningful connections across time.
Visit us again soon CCH!
