LATIBAH Collard Green Museum

LATIBAH Collard Green Museum The LATIBAH (Life and Times in Black American History) Museum LATIBAH Collard Green Museum originates in Charlotte, NC.

We are currently without a physical location. Nevertheless LATIBAH can come to you and your organization. T find out about our awesome outreach programs please visit, www.LATIBAHMuseum.org/programs

Once our physical location is re-established it will be of comprised of a collection of installations, exhibits and artifacts of fine art and cultural history. You will be captivated as you view the l

ife-size, 'slices of life' that depict African-Americans as they have strived for survival in a developing “civil” society. One will experience the museum and be emotionally moved by the visual representations that cover centuries of significant historical eras from the enslavement of Africans through the American systems of slavery, reconstruction, and integration to the 44th President of the United States of America. LATIBAH exists to educate the public on the historical periods that impacted African Americans and both contributed to and were a result of the cultural development in their struggle to overcome the oppression of enslavement and inequality. As a history museum, LATIBAH serves as a center for education on the significant times and events of Black America’s cultural development. Everyone is encouraged to experience a cross-cultural understanding of the shared traditions, influences, and contributions. Educational exposure to these historical developments will be achieved through:
■ Creative, interactive programming,
■ Docent-led tours of the distinct historic eras visually recreated through the
installations,
■ Multimedia documentaries, and
■ Historic artifacts. Although Tours are currently unavailable, we however are currently offering educational outreach programming.

There's still time to get tickets for Swinging @ the Savoy tomorrow, DECEMBER 14th. CLICK the link below.

The event is starring: A Sign of the Times band featuring Demond Carter & The Purple Charlotte Steppers. The attire for this event is Harlem Renaissance style and or “dress your best to impress”. This event is a soft opening for what is to be a signature annual fundraising event.

In keeping with the purpose of LATIBAH West End Talks series which is to educate, inform, and entertain, we will continue to expand this purpose by bringing history to life at our December social event. This event advances the engaging of the community in an interactive (attendees’ participation by wearing period attire or dress your best to impress) cultural celebration. We will go back in history and resurrect the spirit of the cultural infusion of the arts during the Harlem Renaissance (1920s-40s), embracing the culture of dress, Music, dance, and the arts. We will experience this history through an entertainment reenactment of the Savoy Club in Harlem, “Swinging at the Savoy.”

Swinging @ the Savoy is a cultural celebration with Live music, dance, food and art. The event will star: A Sign of the Times band featuring Demond Carter & The Purple Charlotte Steppers. Attire for this event is Harlem Renaissance. Dress to impress.
