Day 82/100 of

This page feels very “OBX first-timer.” 😂
Wild horses on Corolla Beach, finally using the 4x4 feature on my car after nervously airing down the tires, spotting the Wright Brothers memorial from the highway (“close enough!”), and making the mandatory stop for Duck Donuts (everyone was right 🍩).

We drove something like 80+ miles roundtrip from OBX Campground up to Corolla and back that day, and honestly every mile was worth it. Sand, sea oats, lighthouse views, random little roadside stops, and one very judgmental sandpiper all made it into the sketchbook.

I’ve realized these sketchbook pages are often less about making “good art” and more about collecting moments before I forget them. Tiny stories, random facts, snacks, weather, weird birds, sandy shoes…all of it somehow ends up in here.

Day 81/100 of 🦀🏕️

OBX Campground life. Soft Shell Week. Camper parked under the trees, seafood everywhere, and the kind of slow mornings that make you forget what day it is.

Also…this bird made direct eye contact with me before flying over and pooping INSIDE my car. So there’s that. 😂

The Outer Banks continue to be full of surprises.

Day 80/100 of

First stop on our OBX adventure: Cliffs of the Neuse State Park for our first night of camping. Next up…Kill Devil Hills, OBX Campground, wild horses, ferries, sketchbooks, and some of the darkest night skies on the East Coast.

The next few days of this project are coming straight from the road. 🌙🏕️🎨

Still exploring North Carolina… and finally made it to the Outer Banks for the first time. 🌊⛺️

This trip has honestly been everything I hoped it would be. We’ve covered so much ground already — driving the 4x4 beach, seeing the wild horses, visiting all four lighthouses, taking the ferry with our camper, meeting surfers, eating lots of oysters and soft shell crabs, and even seeing beach houses slowly falling into the ocean. The OBX feels wild, weathered, beautiful, and unlike anywhere else.

We’ve gone from top to bottom of the islands and now we’re soaking up life on Ocracoke. Perfect weather every day, the darkest skies on the East Coast at night, camping by the water, and I’ve even managed to fit in a sketch most days along the way. ✏️

There’s something really special about experiencing a place slowly like this — seeing the small towns, talking to people, getting off the main roads, and letting the days unfold as they come. North Carolina keeps surprising me in the best ways.

Honored to have my work included in the upcoming exhibition America 250 Years of Becoming🇺🇸

This exhibition brings together artists reflecting on the many layers of the American experience — resilience, individuality, history, freedom, and the stories that continue to shape who we are.

I’ll be showing my piece Untamed Spirit, a mixed media work inspired by the adventurous energy, independence, and determination woven throughout generations of women. Layered with collage, acrylic, encaustic medium, iron stars, and turquoise stone details, the piece reflects the courage to carve your own path and live beyond the boundaries placed before you.

One of the things I love most about group exhibitions like this is seeing how differently artists interpret a shared theme. The conversations, perspectives, and storytelling always make the experience richer.

If you’re local, I’d love for you to stop by and experience the show. ❤️🇺🇸

Day 63/100 of

We put our first house on the market earlier this month.
23 years in this home… and somehow painting it made it all feel real.

This house held so much life for us — holidays, late nights, ordinary mornings, creative projects, celebrations, hard seasons, growing older together. It’s where Matt and I really built our life.

I wanted this sketch to feel soft and memory-filled, like the way a place starts to live inside you after loving it for so long.

Bittersweet doesn’t even begin to cover it. 🏡✨

Pick of the Patch 🍓

Continuing the series I’ve been sharing this week—
inspired by what’s fresh, in season, and the memories that come with it.

This one takes me straight back—
my grandma’s strawberry jam,
and birthday cakes every year layered with strawberries.

Spring and summer always seemed to start there.

Not everything needs to stand out loudly—
some things are chosen for a reason.

Familiar, a little nostalgic, and still just as sweet.

Make Something of It 🍋

Part of the series I’ve been sharing this week—
inspired by what’s fresh, in season, and the memories tied to it.

This one has a little bite.
A little brightness.

Not everything is meant to be softened—
some things show up exactly as they are.

Sharp, bold, and hard to ignore.

Make Something of It
Part of Pick of the Season 🍋🍒🍊🍓🫐🍈.
