Complete. Bob Marley - 36” x 48” Acrylics on canvas.
This painting has a special place in my heart. I painted it as a tribute to my three sons, thus the title “Three Little Birds” and to honor the legend Bob Marley (who I love).
I used to sing this to them (still do) when they were babies. I have always been a huge Bob Marley fan. I love his chill, laid back, smooth reggae sound which has encompassed my outlook on life and the way I carry myself.
The title “Three Little Birds” is predominantly brighter than the rest of the song lyrics which is a nod to Alex, Julian and Ray.
I wanted to represent the Jamaican culture in a subtle way without painting an actual flag somewhere. So I ended up using a soft yellow and green spotlight shining behind him to represent Jamaica.
This was fun from start to finish and I’m really happy the way it turned out.
